What is NIRF?
NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) is a methodology adopted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to rank higher education institutions across the country. It was launched in 2015 and covers parameters like Teaching, Learning & Resources, Research & Professional Practice, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach & Inclusivity, and Perception.
Why does the college participate in NIRF?
Participation in NIRF helps the institution benchmark itself against peers, identify areas of improvement, and showcase its performance transparently. It also builds credibility among students, parents, and other stakeholders.
What categories does NIRF cover?
NIRF ranks institutions in categories such as Overall, University, College, Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Law, Medical, Architecture, and Research Institutions. Our college participates under the College category.
How is the NIRF score calculated?
NIRF uses a 100-point scale divided into five broad parameters: Teaching, Learning & Resources (40 marks), Research & Professional Practice (15 marks), Graduation Outcomes (25 marks), Outreach & Inclusivity (10 marks), and Perception (10 marks).
What is the NIRF band?
Instead of individual ranks in some categories, NIRF assigns institutions to bands (e.g., 151-200, 201-250). These bands indicate the approximate ranking range of the institution.
Is NIRF participation mandatory?
Participation in NIRF is not mandatory for all institutions. However, UGC has made it mandatory for all HEIs to participate in NIRF to be eligible for various government schemes and grants. Our college participates voluntarily as part of our commitment to transparency.
What is AISHE?
AISHE (All India Survey on Higher Education) is an annual survey conducted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to collect data on higher education institutions. It helps the government formulate policies and allocate resources.
